Timetable
2007 - Innovative beginnings
PERSEO technology was born in the innovation department of IMECAL, a metal-mechanical company focused on the design of industrial solutions, with collaborations in the petrochemical sector. In 2007, the first patent for the process was registered together with CIEMAT, a semi-industrial plant was built in L'Alcúdia and specialised laboratories were set up, laying the foundations for the development of waste recovery technologies.
2008-2019 - Validation and technological maturity
For more than a decade, the team worked on the techno-economic validation of the process and achieved technological maturity levels TRL7-8 for industrial implementation with different raw materials. This period was marked by active participation in European projects led by the PERSEO Team, which drove the evolution of the project from demonstration stages to industrial levels. For example, in 2016 the URBIOFIN project was launched, funded by the European Union and coordinated by PERSEO, which made it possible for us to lead a European consortium for the development of the first demonstrative urban biorefinery. Over the course of five years, innovative processes were incorporated and validated that proved to be technically and economically viable.
2020 - Consolidation as a company
Creation of PERSEO Biotechnology S.L. as an independent company. The company was created at the end of 2020 from the Innovation department of IMECAL S.L. and REPSOL, with the specific aim of implementing these processes on an industrial scale.
+ 2022 - Industrialisation
Today, PERSEO is focused on the implementation of integrated industrial projects, bringing its technology to the agro-industrial and cellulose sectors. It also continues to develop new biotechnological processes that ensure its competitiveness and contribute to a more sustainable and profitable model.
